A two-mile stretch of road that runs east from US Highway 17 and ends at the gated entrance to The Reserve of Pawleys Island also passes two other golf communities. Located on the site of a 16th Century rice plantation, The Tradition is a product of the noted golf architect Ron Garl and opened for play in 1996. There are a good number of water holes on the course, but of special note are two island greens, one on a par three and the other on a par four. The course is always in impeccable condition, with the greens especially well-manicured.
There is plenty of shopping and entertainment nearby, including the popular Quigley’s Pub and the best bakery in the area, Kudzu, less than a half mile from the front gate at The Tradition. Inside the gate, homes are a pleasing mix of single-family and attached villas, with current prices from the mid $500s.
